How to Plan a Trip to Singapore and Bali

By Rita Updated Oct. 27, 2022

A trip to Singapore and Bali is one of the popular combos for a Southeast Asia trip. In neighboring countries , they share a similar pattern of weather. You are likely to enjoy clear skies, sunny beaches, and cool breezes for most of the time between April and September .

These nearby destinations are distinctly different.

Singapore is a great place for cityscapes, beautiful tropical gardens, and food adventures.

Bali, “the Island of the Gods”, is a relaxing escape with various natural beauties (jungles, rice terraces, volcanoes… not to mention the beaches), mysterious Hindu temples, and world-famous art galleries! And most importantly, the unrivalled beaches are paradise for a relaxing getaway!

Which Country to Enter First?

For a better tour experience, you’re suggested to start from Singapore . What we are suggesting is the fast-paced-city-to-relaxed-vibe-island approach.

The cultural districts and beautiful gardens of Singapore demand more walking . Singapore is a cultural melting pot of Asia, and there’s a lot to take in. Bali is a very good wind-down afterwards. You can lie idly on the beach, take a dip in an infinity pool, and enjoy a sunset cocktail at a beach bar...

You’ll have had a fulfilling and refreshing exploration of SE Asia by the end of the trip with Singapore then Bali.

How Do I Travel between Singapore and Bali?

Flying is the easiest and most convenient way to travel between Singapore and Bali.

You can fly into Bali Denpasar International Airport from Singapore’s Changi Airport in just 2 hours and 45 minutes . With over 7 flights a day, you’ll easily find a flight based on your schedule and budget.

Some people might consider traveling by ferry between Singapore and Bali, but we don’t recommend it. Direct ferries are not available, so you would have to transit 2–3 times . Arranging the transits between harbors is time-consuming and troublesome , especially when carrying your luggage and changing tickets.

How Many Days are Needed?

If you want to explore the main highlights of Singapore and Bali, 10 to 14 days are suggested.

Since Singapore is smaller than Bali, more travel time is suggested in Bali: 3–4 days in Singapore and 7–12 days in Bali .

In Singapore, you’ll discover a cultural melting pot and visit futuristic buildings and beautiful gardens. If you’re a foodie, Singapore is a heaven for you, with a wide collection of Southeast Asian cuisines.

Due to its different travel attractions, Bali is usually divided into three areas : the south and nearby islands for beach vacations; the center for jungles, rice terraces, and art galleries; and the north for volcanic hiking and diving. A classic (shorter) itinerary usually focuses on central and southern Bali.

Although Singapore is one of the smallest countries in the world, you still have a lot to explore!

For its city life , you could go from the culture hubs of Little India and Chinatown to modern Clarke Quay and the dazzling Marina Bay. Cycling around Singapore’s rustic Pulau Ubin Island is good for a change of pace and scenery.

If you’re traveling with kids , your family will have fun in Universal Studios Singapore.

For a food adventure , go to Old Airport Road Food Centre, and for the destination’s classic evening moment, sip a Singapore Sling at a rooftop bar.

How Much Does a Singapore and Bali Trip Cost?

Airfares are always the biggest slice of your travel costs. Your international airfare typically ranges between US$500 and US$1,000 each way from/to America and Europe. Additionally, the flight between Singapore and Bali is much cheaper, costing from USD 150 for economy class at peak season.

A 10-day Singapore and Bali tour costs around US$180–220 per day per person, based on quality 4-star hotels, nice meals, and private tailored touring for 2 people.

Hotels form the majority of your tour costs after arrival. You could choose a mid-range boutique (around US$80–100 per night) or relax at an all-inclusive hotel (from US$199 to US$995 per night).

For saving some costs, self-exploring in Singapore and at the southern beaches of Bali will help. Singapore is a metropolis with an efficient public transport network, which makes it easy to explore.

And, when exploring the beaches in Bali, you can rent a scooter, cycle along the coast, enjoy sunbathing on a beautiful beach, or try some water activities... all of which are easy to arrange.

Dining is fairly affordable as well. Paying US$20 per person is enough for a quality meal.

Best Times to Visit Singapore and Bali

Singapore and Bali share similar weather. For drier weather, the best time to visit both countries is April to September .

October to March is Bali's rainy season. Your trip is less affected by the short-lived afternoon downpours if you can do something indoors for a while. However, water activities or island hopping are not suggested due to strong waves and changeable weather at sea. If you’re keen on beaches and water activities and can only travel during this time, Thailand’s Phuket Island is suggested (which is in its dry season).
